I have a NEC DVD-RW ND-3550a. I want to burn dvds with this drive, but am having trouble doing so. I even flashed it with several of the firmwares from here (currently LD3550 1.Y5) with no avail.
Basically, when there is a blank disk in the drive, it is only recognised by dvd-burners (infrarecorder, nero etc) as a generic cd drive, which only allows me to read disks, not write to them. But when there is a disk with data on in the drive, it recognises it as the NEC 3550a and allows me to go-ahead burning (but of course I can't, as the drive is full).
So atm I can't write to any disks, and I have no idea why this is happening.
In Device Manager, it is recognised as NEC DVD_RW ND-3550a. So I assume the drivers are all up together. I would appreciate any feedback!
CD/DVD Drive - NEC ND-3550a
Firmware - LD3550 1.Y5
Drivers - Microsoft (cdrom.sys etc)
Cheers, and I will be looking forward to your answers
