1) Beware the TD rebate(s).. read the fine print on them. Seems I saw another post where more than one of the rebates required the ORIGINAL UPC. That would be a hard trick to pull off.
2) I got the MD MaxStor re-branded NEC-4550 deal at CC monts ago. Very happy with the drive but MD "lost" my $10 rebate, after advising me it had been received, approved and was in "final processing". So the rebate status stayed on their rebate web-site (a third party rebate operation). Ten weeks later I emailed them with the details, they told me they had "no record" and to send me copies of the form, sales receipt and the UPC. Which I did and they said the check would be here in 5-10 business days.
That was 8 days ago. Still waiting on check.
Could it be because I told them that I hoped their drives worked better that their rebate database?
Moral of story... Keep copies of everything regarding rebate submission.
