Windows will suddenly not boot all the way to the login screen with NEC 3540 attached. Actually it will boot only if:
1. I detach the drive, or
2. (Weird) If I attach the drive and have a disk inside the drive, cd or dvd.
Otherwise (drive attached with no disk inside) it will just hang and wait indefinitely for the login screen... you know in between the win-xp boot progress bar and the login screen... when it flickers for a brief moment adjusting resolution.... well in my case it never gets to flickering.
I tried changing the ribbon cable, tried changing the ide slot... nah. I tried the drive on another computer and it works ok. Both computers are on nForce2 boards (Abit NF7 v2.0 - not working, Asus A7N8X - working) and I think they have the same nForce2 drivers. Needless to say it worked just fine couple of hours ago.
I am sure there is something wrong with..... xyz .... ????
