Hey I really need help!!! Ok this is my problem. I tried 3 different flashes, right now I am using the 3.04 Firmware, I have tried 1.04 and LD 3520 1.U9 Firmware. All three firmwares give me the same problem. My drive wont recognize blank CD-R’s I have tried Verbatim and Memorex. I tried everything nothing seems to work. I use the latest nero to burn i also tried ONES same problem. Windows doesnt even recognize the CD-R discs. The other problem I have is with DVD-R. I Have TY03 discs they are 16x compatible. Whenever I try to burn I always get Reset Occurred in both Nero and ONES. I also bought 16x Verbatim -R (MCC03RG20) @16x. DVDs and they do the same exact thing. I try burning at a slower speed and same problem. However I never get any problems with DVD+R’s but they dont work in my xbox. Can any one tell me whats going on or what im doing wrong? THANK YOU!

Here is my nero DVD-R burning error log…
Alex

Don’t know what the problem with your burner is but your Xbox should be OK with +R media if you use bitsetting & set the book type to DVD-ROM.

I think I would have returned the burner as faulty rather than invalidating the warranty by using non-offical NEC firmware.

#3

Turn your DMA on!

#4

Optical drives are not meant to be used on RAID. Hook the NEC to regular IDE channel and see what happens.

#5

Thanks for the help on the Raid, I changed it to the regular IDE and the DVD-R burining works fine now. But it still doesn’t recognize CD-R’s its so frustrating and DMA was always on, but since i guess it wasnt conected to the rair IDE it wouldnt turn on? Anyways DVD-R’s work excellent but I need CD-Rs to workk alsoo any other ideas??

#6

Disable IMAPI services, delete Aspi Layer (XP doesnt need them), use Microsoft IDE drivers.

#7

How do I delete Aspi Layer? I dont have any of the aspi files in windows/system or windows/system32/drivers… And I think i am using windows ide drivers arent I?

#8

My 3520 doesn’t like the Gigastorage CD-R’s i’ve tried either. It will only burn it at 16x whereas my Benq will burn the same disc at 40x. It appears to be quite picky.
