NEC 3520AW: Drive won't write at rated speed. MORE INSIDE. PLEASE HELP!

NEC 3520AW Liggy’s LD3520 2.U3 Firmware

I notice the buffer is having trouble staying at a consistent speed and I have no programs running. I have used nero and dvd decryptor. The drive has never burnt higher than 1X speed. I don’t know whats the problem with the drive.

Pentium 4 2.8 GHz

How connected to PC (USB, ATA)?
Is DMA enabled?
If USB, what USB? 1.1 or 2?
Where is the source stored you want to burn? Network, external Drive? Another DVD?
What chipset? What Drivers?

I could ask thousand questions more before someone could give you an answer that could help.

But on the first pov it seems there is a transfer problem to the drive.

It is connected ata its an internal drive. DMA is enabled.

For some reason the buffer just won’t stay at a consistent level. It just continues to bounce around.

Post the result of the Nero CD-DVD Speed burst transfer test, you need a disk with some data in the drive to run the test.
