I use NEC 3520A with XP home. It was working properly for last one month. But suddenly today it stopped recognizing any CDs (CD-R or CR-RW etc). Although it is working fine for DVD medias. Before it stopped recognizing CDs, I was about to start burning CD-RW and Nero gave me option of burning 4X CR-RW with 48X. I clicked ‘ok’ and after that it gave me some error. Since then it is not recognizing any CD media. It says “Please insert a disk into a drive†when drive is clicked through XP browser.
I have been using 3520A in bytecc external enclosure. To make sure that external enclosure is not faulty I put 3520A in my desktop. But still it did not recognize CD media (DVDs are okay). The firmware is original 1.04. I purchased this DVD writer in Jan 2005.
Is there any way to correct this problem? Is this a firmware issue? I have no idea therefore please help.
