NEC 3520 DVD speed problem (again...sorry)

Hi, i’m a newbie from Italy.
My setup is:
AMD SEMPRON 2.6GB
512 DDR RAM
DVD Burner 16x NEC 3520
Windows XP

I verify that standard reading speed is about 4x and burning is about 3x (with a 8x DVD-R Verbatim).
I installed a 3.04 firmware from NEC website.

I verify that CONTROLLER IDE ATA/ATAPI is settled on PIO mode, even if i set it on "DMA if available".

Maybe slow speed depending from PIO mode.
How to change it?
From BIOS?
Downloading new WinXP drivers?
Or what?

Thanks in advance.
Luca

You probably need to roll back your IDE/ATA/ATAPI drivers (in device Manager) to standard MS IDE Drivers then you should be able to get the drive in UDMA mode.

Too late to Edit. Here is a thread by Womble that will help you with Enabling UDMA.
