Is it possible to bitset the DVD-R DL booktype to DVD-ROM?
I don’t think that the modded firmware supports it from what I read and saw.
I am trying to burn a Honda Navigation DVD image for the sake of having a backup copy.
I had read that the Navigation drive only likes DVD-R DL media from Verbatim.
I am also pretty sure it needs to be bitset to DVD-ROM.
Can the NEC 3520 drive just not do this? Are there other DVD burners that can?
Simple answer seems like a no. I don’t think DVD-R DL allows booktyping at all. It already has a booktype DVD-R and you can’t change it. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
No need to correct you. They should have used DVD-ROM instead. I’m sure it would have increased compatibility with standalone devices.

Yep, only Pioneer knows why they did so… Booktype for -R DL just cannot be changed.
Maybe they didn’t want to sell these discs at all 
As far as I know, you can only change the booktype of DVD+R. DL or no DL.
Yes, that’s the point.
DVD-R DL media with a “already setted” “booktype” DVD-ROM would ‘violate’ some rules Pioneer has made itself, I believe.
Please let me know if and how you ever get your Honda disc copied. I am trying to do the same with no luck. Thanks!
