I am running Windows XP, and recently installed the NEC 2500a DVD burner. As it came with no driver CD or similar, I assumed such would not be needed. However, Windows is only recognizing it as a standard CD drive. It will not show blank media of either kind, either. Any thoughts on what I might do to fix this? I will happily provide any more information that would be helpful.
Thanks!
Are you running Service Pack 1?
Is your drive setup as Primary slave or Secondary Master/Slave? Secondary master is preferred.
Have you the latest bios for your board?
Does it show as a DVD-RW in the POST test and bios screen?
