NEC 2500A +Choppy PlayBack

Lo Peeps,
My first real post I have looked thorugh the stickies buy can’t see any Info on my problem. Not sure if this is the correct forum either.

This is my second NEC as the first would not write discs consistently.

My Second drive is fine at present I am using the standard 1.06 Firmware. Nero Version: & WinXP. Using Stanard IDE drivers on Nforce 2 Board. My NEC is running UDMA 2. MY DVD-Rom is using UDMA 5 as is the 2x HDD’s

The Vobs were ripped via another drive could this be a problem?

The problem I have is that I have burnt three Ripped Movies. When I try and play them on a standalone player they are all Jerky and juttering. Tried this on Two Standalone players. Tried Playing the Vobs on the Hard drive and they play fine.

Just wondered if you guys had any Ideas? as I am stumped.

First thing i would do is download dvd info pro.
give us all the media code of the dvdr`s your trying to play.

also the brand.

also do a scan with your dvdrom in a program called K probe.
with 8 ecc at 4x.

and last thing i would do is flash the NEC drive with Herries latest beta 7 firmware.

then after that reburn the movie and re scan the dvdr and post both results from k probe.

so we can compare them.

to me it just sounds like cheep quality dvdr`s your useing.

Please post the MID code for the discs you are using.
Some standalone players have compatiblity problems with certain disc or dye types.
Try playing those discs in a few other standalone players to see if they skip/stutter in other drives.

Cheers for all your replys peeps. I think it was down to dodgy media. Managed to get hold of a Sony 8x Disc. Burnt perfectly No choppy playback either it was perfect.

When I put the Bulkpaq Discs in and Use DVDInfoPro. Stating that there is no Media present. SO unable to give you codes. Thats a lie  just rebooted is there Media Info from DVDInfoPro.

Just ordered some of these
“New Datawrite “RED” V3 4x DVD-R in tubs of 25”

Hopefully these will be better at burning movies than the Bulkpaq.

Thanks Again

Princo are complete garbage
don’t waste your money…
Any movie you successfully record on these coasters
will be gone in 6 months time (or less)

Datasafe red are just as bad, if not worse for movies.
Standalones hate em big time.

It’s real Princo trash this - the media code write speed (the write speed that the disc thinks it should be written at) is 1x.

I think such media is all but worthless.

Drive detection/read issues/no disc present messages and other problems are common with PRINCO media.
This shows you how crappy they are
All drives have problems with them.
Princo 4X certified discs are much better than the 1X discs though…
The 1X discs are complete garbage and shouldn’t be taken even if they were giving them away…

Cheers for all your help Guys.

I have since purchased some Datawrite Version 3 4x speed and the discs seem good. used the 1.07 hacked firmware can now burn this media at 6x speed too  Movies are playing back fine!

One very happy NEC 2500A Owner.
