Nec 1300a Flashed to 1.0a Now works great with cheap DVDs

NEC 1300a with cheap DVDs showed as “Illegal DVD” and would fail to burn.
I downloaded the Windows installer version of 1.0a firmware for the NEC 1300a.
Ran it in WindowsXP and shut down my PC then started it up again.
Now it burns with the cheap DVDs I bought from pricewatch.com

I got the file from

That’s great of course, but I’ve got some questions for you:

  1. What brand + type are those DVD’s you bought from Pricewatch (check that with a program like DVDIdentifier)?

  2. At what speeds did you burn these DVDs?

  3. Can you post a scan? I assume you don’t have a LiteOn DVDRW drive in your system, so please use DVDInfoPro

TIA!

4x DVD-R (25pcs) $16.00 from YesBuy.com
The DVD burner is OEM Nec 1300a
Once I flashed the 1.0A bios, it saw and burned these DVDs at 4x.
I read where this bios will allow the NEC 1300a to burn any brand but of course, I can only say what happened with these.
