I have a NEC 1300A DVD-Burner and it has the 1.08 version of the firmware that came when i bought the burner.
I wanted to upgrade to the 'ND-1300A Firmwareupdate 1.0A' which i found on The NEC's European site >>>HERE<<<
However the thing that worried me is that it said not to use this Firmware flash on the OEM version of the Drive which is the version i have.
I quote from the readme of the firmware file:
this Update works only with NEC ND-1300A (retail&bulk), not with OEM releases.
(OEM means part of a full PC package or external USB/FireWire variant of this burner)
For OEM products contact your dealer, distributior or manufacturer of PC package.
-You can update from Firmwareversion version 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08 and 1.09.
Im based in the U.K but the U.K NEC site has no downloads for their burners and the NEC site above is from Germany.
The thing that confuses me is that they say that a OEM is part of a full PC package or USB/Firewall, I thought that OEM means that the the the equipment you are buying doesn't come with Manuals and/or Software or Disks and is just a very basic package as opposed to a retail package that comes with all the above mentioned stuff. Am I wrong???
Please someone enlighten me on this and would it be safe to update my DVD-Writer to the latest 1.0A firmware.
My burner seems to have trouble reconising DataSafe Premium Media 80Min CD's and i was hoping the update would make it more compatible with these types of CD's.
I know this burner is pretty fussy about the CDR media it accepts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
