NE1 with RPC-1 patched 165h or 166s f/w - share

Hi,

Some have reported being successful patching the latest LiteOn 165h CH0Z and 166s DS07 f/w’s.

If you were lucky, pleasez share.

I’ve tried many times to patch my 165h CH0Z without any luck.

Help pleasez would be appreciately greatly.

I don’t think that there are any patched RPC-1 firmwares since there is a Windows RPC-1 utility available to “turn ON/OFF the RPC mode”.

I managed to make it region free
The problem was M$'s WinXP itself. As i couldnt do anything in XP decided to boot 98SE.I started the RPC switch program and clicked on disable and straight away the dvdinfo program showed me that there is no region protection
I flashed again the the drive with latest firmware with mtkflash went to 98 and disable right away the region protection.I went after to XP and the rpc switch told me again that there is no region protection.
The 98SE OS was clean install, no dma, nothing enabled, only PIO mode.
Maybe XP was beeing stupid for another one time.
At least happy end

I can barely understand that, but that sure isn’t patching in any way.

Hi,

I tried installing Win98SE and then used RPCDE.exe to patch my Lite-On LTD-165H’s CH0Z f/w and it works.

From both within Win98SE and WinXP, driveinfo21.exe reports the 165h as Region Free (RPC-1).

I ran the same util to patch my 166S (f/w DS0B ) under Win2000 with no probs.
