ND4551 won't detect 800Mb CD

My 4551 only detects the media as a 702Mb disk, yet my old BTC DVD writer detects it as a 799Mb disk. The only way i can fill the disk using nero is to use the overburn function which i do not like to do. Yet after i have burnt the disk the 4551 detects that it has 773Mb of data on it.
Can anyone tell me why this is??

That´s the way it always has been with my drives. Not just NEC´s!

The only way i can fill the disk using nero is to use the overburn function which i do not like to do.
Why that!? People often say RTFM to users having a problem, but in this case, do NOT rtfm.

Fully agree. It’s just normal.

So manufacturers make 80 and 90 minute CDs but modern drives cannot detect their capacity.
Sorry but i think thats a load of c**p, i thought it may be a firmware or setting issue and someone would be able to help.
Just an after thought why is my 2 year old BTC able to detect the capacity of a blank CD90R and i can write the disk without having to overburn??

LOL, what have you been smoking?

maybe PC-Welt?
