ND-6100A firmware to support 16X DVDs'

I bought some DVD’s capable of 16x writing speed. I know, i can only go up to 8x. BUT, here’s the kicker, I need to update the firmware in order for the DVD drive to support these 16x DVD’s. Right now my DVD’s just fail in the burning process. I’ve been looking around but I haven’t quite found the answer to this. I’m not sure if i should try and flash it to 6500A, and I’m not quite sure how to do this.

Any help at all regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

I have Exactly the same problem, did you manage to solve it?

-so, anyone, what is the most safe and simple way to flash nd-6100A to nd-6500A?

Dell M60, WinXP Pro, media: Verbatim 16x DVD+R

There is no “safest way”.

Flash at your own risk. Warranty will be void in any case.

Allright, got it finally from notebookforums: downloaded 203D (DELL) TDB Windows Flasher from dangerous brothers and ran 6500rpc1.exe - works veeryy smooth! absolutely fantastic and easy.

I´m still abit amazed, the drive is so much cooler now, also faster, actually burns 8x now as it should, before i could get only 4x with the same media!

Yep, TDB are truely wizards.

Don’t forget to also install Regionkiller or DVDGenie to make your system completely regioncode free.
