[qanda]This thread is about the NEC ND-2510A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]what's up everyone, i am having a problem with my nec nd-2510a dvd burner that literally just started yesterday. i've had this drive since june '04 and it's been working great every time. yesterday i tried burning a few movies and out of the 7 discs i put through it, only 2 came out fine.
i only use taiyo yuden (id TYG02) discs, so cheap media can be ruled out. i am using nero 220.127.116.11 (with win xp pro) and although it's old, it never gave me any problems at all. also if it matters, i flashed the drive years ago with RPC1 and rip speed firmware (v2.15). when i burn a disc, it will burn successfully all the way to 100% with no errors, the tray ejects, and i get stuff like this:
looks like the laser just stopped burning intermittently, even though the activity light stays lighted the whole time. also there are never any drops in buffer percentage, always in the high 90's. i've tried burning at 8x, 6x, and 4x, and the discs will still come out looking like that. it will still read and play dvd's fine so i don't know. this is the first time i've seen anything like that. as stated above i've had the drive for 4.5 years now, so maybe it was just time for it to go?
maybe someone can point me in the right direction as to what's going on? any help is appreciated. thanks!
