NB Question on Slow burning problems

I recently had a problem with my DVD Burner buring VERY Slowly, 2 1/2 - 3 hours to burn then it would fail. Previously, I had been burning DVD’s in about 45 minutes. I changed to a different type of DVD media and presto, I was back to burning in 45 minutes.

My question is can Bad media cause this type of SLOW burning problem? I was using DVDShrink and it was really SLOW when it was going through the analysing phase…can bad media affect the analysing phase?

Check to see if your drive is in DMA mode (In device manager, listed under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, whatever channel the drive is on, under properties, should say ULTRA DMA mode #). Also check to see if there are any available firmware updates for your drive, as this problem may have been addressed in one.
