Not at all surprised. It was a similar story 12-13 years ago with USB 2.0.
USB 2.0 High Speed was the real deal running at 480MBit. But there was also the inappropriately named USB 2.0 Full Speed which was just USB 1.1 by another name, running at 12Mbit.
I recall Mitsumi getting into trouble for repeatedly breaking the rules by using the USB 2.0 High Speed logo on Full Speed devices.
