  I have a drive which lists its model no. as 48X12X50 CD-RW, the bios and the Windows recognize it as such. It has the P/N 91.3AD37.025 which returns a few suggested links in the google search [though in my case the S/N, which is 2360316JE A1, is different, but the reported problems in the links are pretty much the same, i.e., while burning on Memorex CD-RWs]. The links that were given inside these links are somehow no longer available, so I am kinda stuck. I just need to upgrade the firmware, so that the drive has better readability of certain kinds of media it is at the moment unable to read/write/re-write. I have tried the AOpen site and the firmwares 4850_f104 for CDR4850; this didn't work. The Cendyne firmware download site also listed a few other links for '12-character-S/N-drives', all of which I have tried but nothing seems to work. I just hope there is some genius out there who would be able to help me out!
I'm still not sure if it has been identified, but it has been discussed in the following threads..............
Could anyone suggest how to figure out if the drive has Just-Link technology built into the drive?
I take it that you have removed the Case Cover and physicaly looked at the drive itself? If not, it isn't hard to do.Is the Computer a store bought system that hasn't been apart at all? if thats the case then the model # of the computer with it's list of peripheals may have the drives info . Any replies to this?
I also have that drive. I have not looked at the serial, but it has the Aopen speed trick with the eject button. Firmware version is 1.02 from 2002
I recently looked at "The Firmware Page" forums at rpc1.org, and got this firmware upgrade: http://www.cendyne.com/Files/AOpen_48x12x50_v104_oem.zipThe question is: will it work with my drive?
