My own discs copy protected

I’ve recorded a DVD on a DVD+RW media in a Phillips DVDR 75. I recorded from a camcorder. Some was via FireWire and some via analog. I want to backup some of the video since I no longer have it on video tape. I put the RW disc in my DVD player, which is hooked to the DVDR 75 via RCA cables to the back. But when I try to record the DVDR says “Copy Prot” and won’t let me record! That’s silly. Why would my own Disc show upas copy protected? What can I do?

Obviously there’s a recognition problem. Use a filtered SCART lead or better still, copy the disc on a PC, thereby preventing copy generation loss.

What’s a filtered SCART lead?
