My little firmware release: TDK 1.34 on NEC

Doesn’t work here…

It doesn’t work if I just click the link. It does work if I right click and choose Save Target As…

The problem is that Lycos checks the referrer. The 12KB that you get is the referrer error page. You have to download the file without a referrer. Easiest way to do that is to copy & paste the link into the address bar instead of clicking on the link.

“Save Target As…” only works for IE and that’s because of a flaw in IE where IE doesn’t send proper referrer information when using STA (in this case, it helps solve a problem, but in most cases, it actually causes problems).

Hmm, I’m running Firefox 0.9 and I was able to right click save link as, and download the file without any problems.

Ahhh, thank you for clearing this up!

For all people still having problems, I uploaded the file to another free webspace. I hope it’s less problematic.

Alternative download

Too bad I can’t edit the first posting to update it…

any changes ? add more media ???

Any chance u could make a widows version as i cant flash me drives in dos as there on raid so dont get reckonised in dos ?

thanks

Hi!

Sorry, no Windows version! I would have to change the version number to 1.0x if I made it flashable under Windows. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to flash back to other firmwares in Windows! I don’t want to change the version number, because with the number 1.34 everyone knows, that it’s from TDK!

@yangxi:

Look into my first posting and click on “this thread”!

I hope it looks better this way

Thank you, Liggy!

But you need to remove a " that accidentally appears. This still disturbs the download…

Another outstanding result (OK, it’s high quality media  ). It is a Verbatim DVD-R 8x with printable surface burned @8x. Here’s what DVDInfoPro shows:

Thank you!

Verbatim DVD-R Printable 4x MCC 01RG20

hmmm… im starting to dislike this Verbatim, i got always results like this, no matter wich firmware i use. I got much better scans with Prodisc R03 or RiCOHJPN R01

The scan is not too bad!
But don’t only trust these scans. German c’t magazine compared them to a CATS analyzer (professional, objective and very expensive quality tester) and they have NOTHING in common!
Try to record some reading curves in speedhacked DVD-ROMs as well. If there are no significant slow downs, your disc is OK!

Heheh, personally I never did. btw, any url to that c’t article? Thanks.

If the magazine was online, nobody would buy it… :stuck_out_tongue:

oh well, that’s too bad then.
