My DVD-player can´t read my DVDcopies

I seek a solution to this very frustrated problem.
I mount the image file in either Daemon och Alkohol 120%.

  1. Copy DVD with NERO or Alkohol --> The copy works on the computer but not on my DVD-player (the one connected to the TV), the video either “lags” or error message “disc error” occurs.
  2. I use DVD decrypter and use Nero to compile a DVD --> the dvdplayer can´t read the copy
  3. DVD decrypter - DVD2ONE - Nero —> same problem as above
  4. DVDClone (on-the-fly / from temp image) —> the video “lags”.
(The DVDcopies always work on my computers dvdplayer). I always use the lowest write-speed and I never use the CPU under the process. I use “Verbatim 4.7gb 16x certified” as DVDs and “Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S” as burner. The funny thing is that this problem has occured just now. A couple of months ago I lived with a smile on my face. So to do a society a favor, help me with this problem so I dont end up in anger management.

what exactly is your definition of “lags”? as in the video skips?

Yes, the video jumps and stops and so on, you can´t see the movie, only pictures jumping… I dont know the english word =)

Try burning them @ 8X. Your burner is an 8X burner. Burning 16X media at slow speeds might cause problems. Or try 8X media and burn @ 8X. Do you defrag often?

ok but the strangest thing: My burner is an 8X, and the DVDs is 16X, but I CAN´T burn faster then 1-4X depended on witch program. Maybey thats a warning sign of some kind? Haven´t defraged in a while, but a formatted C yesterday due to this problem, but I burn the images from another partition (D:) witch I haven´t defraged. Should I defrag partition D?

your burner might not be recognizing the media, which could possibly be fixed with a firmware update for your burner. try searching the Lite-On subforum here at cdfreaks for your burner’s model and something might turn up.

ok, i try that… thx

When I installed a new firmware, the following list was opened:

The DVD “Verbatim 16x” I told you about before wasn´t on that list, so could it be that Verbatim isn´t compatible with my DVD-burner ? Verbatim has worked before though. Im a bit confused!

It should support with speed up to 6x, it’s the MCC004

download DVD Identifier (found in my sig). place a burned dvd into your burner, run DVD Identifier and it will tell you what the media code is.

At the very least I would try a different DVD media.

Also, try running your current media through the freeware DVD Identifier Located Here to see what it says.

So the problem might be fixed now ? Or should I use a better program or something ?

Only you can determine that. How can we tell if it’s fixed? Doubt if its the software but could be wrong. I only know CloneDVD2, not the others. You mentioned “DVDClone” so don’t know if you have the real CloneDVD2 but the real one would not be responsible for your problem as long as you are booktyping to ROM. You can’t do much better than Verbatim media so also doubt that that is the problem.

Also suggest booktyping to DVD-ROM. You need a burner utility that will do this since CloneDVD does not booktype 4.7GB SL media by default as of the current version - only does it for DL media. A very large number of players don’t like +R finalized disks.

This DVD doesn´t work with my DVD-player

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MCC 03RG20 ]

Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [MCC 03RG20 ]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]

[ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - ]

This DVD works fine with the DVDplayer:

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:FUJIFILM03]

Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Fuji Film]
Manufacturer ID : [FUJIFILM03]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]

[ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - ]

Do this make sense? The only different is the DVD-manufacturer the restof the information are the same, at least in my eyes.

Could someone give me a Chose-Booktype-for-dummies so I could do some tests. Thanks for all the help ! =)
