My drw-20b1lt no longer burns or read properly

Hey Cdfreaks

I recently updated my ASUS DRW-20B1LT’s firmware to 1.01 and even more recently I’ve noticed that it cannot burn and it that it reads disc’s even more strangely.

Whenever I attempt to burn a DVD it simply causes programs like EAC to stall and Buuurnn gives me this in its log:

Initializing SPTI … OK!
SPTILOCK:1,0,0: ASUS DRW-20B1LT Rev: 1.01
Starting write
Starting write at speed 16…
Turning BURN-Proof on
ERROR: Cannot set write parameters mode page.

ERROR: Cannot setup write parameters for session-at-once mode.
ERROR:
ERROR: Please try to use the ‘generic-mmc-raw’ driver.
ERROR: Writing failed.

As for its reading it treats ALL discs as if there blank media, before being able to even explore the disc’s I have to set the name and the formatting style for the disc.

For example here is what the bundled Nero 8 CD looks like in my Computer: http://i35.tinypic.com/11rzp50.jpg

Now I ask, is there any solution to this problem or even a way to possibly rollback the firmware to see if its purely firmware related?

I’m running:

Core i7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4
Vista 64 bit.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. :flower:

Are you overclocked? You never know what subtle weirdness can be introduced when overclocking.

Are you using the latest version of EAC?

Try downloading and running this:
