My Drive SUCKS, and I HATE IT

I hate my GSA-4082B, a few weeks ago, it was compltely dead, could not do anything at all. Then it came back, it could read OKAY. I tried a burn, it gets the exact same error as the one I got before it went completely dead.

It gets really really far into the burning process and gets an error.

I saved the log, in there it says:

Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
[19:29:13] DVDEngine HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
[19:29:13] DVDEngine TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
[19:29:13] DVDEngine Sense Key: 0x04 (KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR)
[19:29:13] DVDEngine Sense Code: 0x09
[19:29:13] DVDEngine Sense Qual: 0x01
[19:29:13] DVDEngine CDB Data: 0x2A 0x00 0x00 0x18 0x0E 0x20 0x00 0x00 0x10 0x00 0x00 0x00
[19:29:13] DVDEngine Sense Data: 0x71 0x00 0x04 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x10
[19:29:13] DVDEngine 0x35 0x01 0x04 0x0E 0x09 0x01

and it says this about 50 times:
[19:29:14] GCCore The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds: Graph control (Stream segment)
[19:29:18] GCCore The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds: Graph control (Stream segment)
[19:29:22] GCCore The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds: Receive sample (GC Sink)
[19:29:25] GCCore The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds: Grab still image (AVStillSource)

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?

I am scared to send it back to LG because MAYBE it’ll start working again, (it happened to me once)

:frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: WHAT SHOULD I DO?!? :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

I would recommend buying yourself a new one, if you hate that much…

Theses drives are rather cheap now, no point on you keeping it if it’s causing that kind of pain

4082 is an old drive now, you could try doing a firmware update and trying it in another computer.

Try a different burning program. Id hate to say get a new one cause not everyone has 60 bucks to throw around, but I live in Canada too, and they are cheap, so if you do have the cash…

I’ve tried using Ulead’s Burning software with no success either…
I’m think I might just give exchanging a try,
I already have another drive (DW1620pro), I just don’t like the feeling of $125 (that was the price when I bought the LG) going to waste, because I never used it that much…
