My computer isn't even detecting my DVD burner

I’m new to burning movies…so you’ll probably see a lot of questions from me.
Right now I’m stuck! My computer isn’t even detecting my DVD burner.(I think it’s because of Niro!)
How do I get the computer to find my burner?I tried to unplug it and re plug it for the “plug and play”…nothing!
 Please help!

1.What Burner is it
2.What OS are you using
3.What software (if any) came with the burner

Also, are you talking about Nero not recognising your burner?

Does it show up in Device Manager/My Computer?

Welcome to the forum (to both of you!).

MyI’m running Windows XP.
My burner is HL DT ST DVDRAM GSA 4081B.I don’t know the company,I don’t have software. When I see it in the device manager,it says “Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)”.
I heard Nero can mess up ytpur burner after I installed it.

Code 41…OK, try deleting your upper and lower filters.

This Microsoft link will tell you how to do that.

If you’re unsure, there is a Guided Help on the same page, which will help you through the process.

Hope it helps - and your burner is made by LG.

thank you so much Arachne. It was fixed in 10 min.
You are the best.

You’re welcome, happy to help
