My burner doesn't wonna spin a cd

just like 15min ago everything was working fine but all of a sudden it doesnt detect a cd in my cdrom. i was copying files to my hard drive then it froze. so i had to do alt+ctrl+del to end the process. ever since that freeze none cds work it keeps telling me theres no cd in there. the eject works and the computer sees theres a cdrom installed.
i did this alrdy

  • reboot
  • did a scan disk
  • uninstall driver and then let windowsxp find new hardware
  • scanned for virus
  • uninstall drivers in safe mode

o ya im using winxp

well what this sounds like to me is that your drive is going bad :frowning:

p.s. did you try using all different kinds of cd’s? like regular cd’s and not cd-r’s etc… ?

The same thing has happened to me with my old 8x ricoh. I had to open it up and check it out. There was a rubber string or something that was losened up (i suppose it was needed for motilising the tray). I just put it in place and voila the drive worked (not for long unfortunately :frowning: ). Hope this helps

The best thing to do though is to return the drive for service if it’s still under guarantee :wink:

i got it 1 1/2 years ago and my warrenty is one 1 year

crap!!!

i dont have any $$$ do go out and buy another burner
