My burner does not like my disks

i bought memorex disks awhile ago, tried them on my 40x/12x/48x and with smart burn activated it would only burn at 12x.

cd info:
This Disc is designed for Consumer Audio Recorder (Low Speed).
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 15s 17f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = RiTEK JS-dye
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 12X

now i go out and buy 40x disks (also memorex) and the info is as follows

cd info:
This Disc is designed for Consumer Audio Recorder (Low Speed).
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 26s 66f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = CMC,Imation
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 12X

with smartburn off it burns fine at 40x (and 48x since i just overclocked my drive) but what gives? why wont it work?

> CMC,Imation

This is “cheaply made crap”

But I didn’t know that smart burn can limit speed to something below 24x…

“This Disc is designed for Consumer Audio Recorder (Low Speed)”.

that’s why it’s limited to 12X.

Either you buy audio CD-R discs or the discs is detected incorrectly…

they do say audio on them. but they said 40x on the package so i figured they would work anyway. oh well smartburn wasnt doing much for me anyway.
