Second, I have a suggestion, why don’t you reflash the drive back to BCIB, and then I want you to run the QSuite program, and I want you to look under the SolidBurn tab, and then I want you to set it to OFF for both known and unknown media. Then, save the setting, and when it asks how you want to make the change, either temporary or permanent, click on PERMANENT. Then clear your learned media. Now go and burn again.
Done, tried burning at 48x, & as before 3 minutes of spinning & low clicking sound, then spinning sound decreased & CD was burned (Nero states speed as 48x) in about 3:48 minutes (500MB) & verified successfully.
I’ll try another CD to see if it’ll keep going so or drop to 12x again as before.
BTW, BenQ no longer exists. They were completeley absorbed by Lite-On a couple of years ago. You can’t contact them anymore for support with your drive, so don’t bother.
Fine, but what about their site ??
I agree with you that their answer was unrelated to my problem as if no one read it…
Thanks for your help & will keep you updated.
