Hey guys i am Rishikesh from India…this is my first post here.

Well as the title says my 1650 isnt burning dvd’s…it does burn cd’s and also reads dvd’s (but gets stuck sometimes causing a bluescreen and a reboot)

When i try to burn a dvd using Nero 6 the thing gets stuck at the lead-in point and crashes the system after a while…even the cancel option is greyed out.

I tried using alcohol and it still doesnt work…this is the alcohol log

any clue any1?

#3

Figure out what causing the bluescreen.
And check your dma settings and try a burn at 8x speed.

#4

DMA is on… have tried burning at 8X also…but it doesnt work.

The bluescreen comes only when the 1650 cant read DVD’s…well there have been abt 2-3 bluescreen’s only…

Havent had any other trouble with the pc.I am using the Asus K8N4E-Dlx mobo…i tried removing the nforce ide drivers and using the standard ide drivers…but it still didnt work.

#5

Is there another drive on the same ide-channel?
If so, try your 1650 as a single drive on that channel.

#6

There is no other drive on that channel…the drive just stopped burning DVD’s a couple of days back…its burning cd’s though

#7

You could try it in another pc and if it behaves the same then rma it.

#8

Burn the ISO using ImgBurn and post the media ID / mediacode.

#9

The disc’s that i have are the following

 1. Moser Baer DVD+R 16x MID : MBIPG101 R05 (001)

 2. DataWrite Yellow DVD-R 8x MID : CMC MAG.AE1

#10

Tried using ImgBurn…gets stuck again at lead-in…nothing happens…when i tried to cancel that didnt happen either…had to reboot

#11

As suggested by GrrRon, try it in another PC if you can.
It seems to me like the drive is defective and you should RMA it. :frowning:

#12

Dont have another pc around to try it…guess i’ll have to RMA the drive tomm

#13

Error message: [06/28/00] - Not Ready To Ready Change, Medium May Have Change

Sense code 06 (Unit Attention)
60A00 ERROR LOG OVERFLOW
62800 NOT READY TO READY CHANGE, MEDIUM MAY HAVE CHANGED
62801 IMPORT OR EXPORT ELEMENT ACCESSED
62900 POWER ON, RESET, OR BUS DEVICE RESET OCCURRED
62901 POWER ON OCCURRED

this is what i got for the error code 62800…what does ‘unit attention’ mean?

#14

Do you have packet writing software installed? Try to uninstall InCD, Sonic DLA, Direct CD (Roxio) and maybe Alcohol.

#15

Well i unistalled Nero and was able to burn an image file using ImgBurn…can some1 suggest a good alternative to Nero…so that i can check if data files are being written

#16

Well i uninstalled and re-installed Nero and the now drive seems to be burning dvd’s without any problems…

Couple of disc’s i burnt yesterday…

You could try some better media. Maybe it’s hard to get in India, I don’t know.
I do know that Moser Baer is made in India :iagree: ,but if you can get your hands on Verbatim media or Taiyo Yuden (like Plextor), you will get far better results.
In either way, you should choose for +R media over -R, because the BenQ prefers them

#18

Uh? - :disagree: That’s old news, things have changed since the 1620, you know  - 1640, 1650 and 1655 give excellent burns with -R.

The Moser Baer’s are quite good…but i am just happy that the 1650 is burning dvd’s…till yesterday i wouldnt burn a damm disc…

I have some Datawrite yellow DVD-R bought in the UK…but i get horrible scans with those…maybe it was because those disc’s were literally frozen when my bro got them to India

A horrible scan with a Sony DVD+R @ 8x
