Can anyone suggest a software prog that I can use to burn 3gig of
music onto a DVD that will give me the option to play all files on a
random select basis…I want to play the DVD via my house player
not the computer, currently I can only play the files in order as they
were burned onto the disk.

Your player must support that option, otherwise no chance.

I had a feeling that was the case, but was living in hope, although I am
using my sons Xbox to play my CD/DVD’s (he has the 360 now), do you
know if it supports random play, and how to find it!!

Sorry, I have no clue about consoles.
But I think that should be possible either from the internal hdd or from a CD / DVD.
