According to this test you risk losing all your data if you use it with any drive that doesn’t fully support it.

Since most here have LiteOn’s using it could mean loss of data…

None of the other tested drives can handle defects, which means that even light scratches can produce the possible written discs un-readable…

That’s old news…

On the other hand, there is no evidence that the classical UDF 1.50 packet writing format is more reliable than CD-MRW in practice.

I have been using CD-MRW with InCD on Lite-On LTR48125W for 9 months, without loosing a single file.

So yes, packet writing is in general less reliable than multisession writing to CD-Rs, but it is much more convenient for some purposes. Certain precautions must be taken, like making multiple backups, etc. If you want to live dangerously, it’s like “safe” sex…:cool:
