MSConfig in WinXP Pro?

A friend of mine has XP Pro and hes got a bunch of junk loading and some startup problems. But MSConfig doesnt work(it just says not found). How do I get in to get rid of startup items?

May I advice to make use of the free Startup CPL? This program can enable/disable all kinds of programs that start with your system. Really nifty tool!

How come he doesnt have MSConfig on his XP pro, but my laptop that has XP pro does?

msconfig.exe should be in the following folder:
C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries

If it there you may have to fix the registry.
Recreate the entries and/or fix them using the following info.

Create a key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\App Paths\MSCONFIG.EXE and set the default value to C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe.

Create a key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\App Paths\HELPCTR.EXE and set the default value to C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr.exe

That should fix it.

If msconfig.exe is not in C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries then download a copy here and place it in that folder. You may still have to fix the entries as above.
