MPG to AVI or ASF

Can I convert a MPG video file to an AVI or ASF file?
And if so, how and which software should I use?

I don’t know for sure, but I think it can be done with the latest AdobePremiere.
You can open mpg files and I think you can save them as .avi’s, but I’m not sure (I haven’t tested it myself).

If it’s possible, it will probably take very long to convert them and you will need a very fast PC. (to avoid messages like: “estimated time left: about a day”)

Hi enterthedre,

Are you still looking for AdobePremiere?
I have tryed converting mpg’s to avi’s with version 5 and it worked great.
You can choose the quality and select the fragment you want to export as avi.
A short fragment at 320X240 took about 5min to convert (PII 266, 128MB).

Speciaal voor enterthedre:
spijtig dat je niet in België woont, anders kreeg je een copy van mijn CD (als dank voor jouw methode om CD’s te beveiligen). Of ben je bereid om daarvoor naar België af te zakken?
