Sounds like an open question but my issue is simple (I think). I can burn mpgs (from a camcorder) to a readable DVD, but apparently not efficiently. I tried to burn a ~45 minute mpg movie (in 480i HD) to a DVD (it was approx. 3 Gig file). The movie software made me split it into two discs. I've heard that MPGs going to DVDs are expanded to be used by universal DVDs so I just accepted this as life. Until recently...
A friend of mine sent a movie that was about the same size and he got it on one DVD. It was good quality on my 60" HD screen (so don't think he reduced quality). He had friend do it (who can't answer the question - not sure why )
I am truly baffled, so any idea on what can I do to get movie MPG files on one DVD? Is there a way to shrink the MPG or DVD files?
This also happens with Tivo files that I converted to MPG. I record a TV show that someone wants to see. I have to take an 1 hour show and spread across 2 DVDs when he gets 1.5 hour real movies on DVDs? How?
