Trying to backup my copy of “election” using clonedvd/dvd decryptor (3.5.4.0) and anydvd (5.4.1.1) and it gets to one file at 75% and just hits a wall and starts retrying. Seems others have had no problems with these programs depcyrping css protecytion, why am I having so much difficulty. Any tips or settings in these proggy’s I should use?

If one of the following doesn’t work, perhaps a defective disc?
Try DVDFabDecrypter:

Or try this:

Good luck.

If the disc is clean, you’ve got a defective disc. Election is old enough that there’s NO protection on it beyond CSS.

ok. Just figured it was giving the exact same errors as shown in the digital video forum link(W 6:05:34 Failed to read Sector 256842 - CIRC Unrecovered Error) and same popup error that I figured it was the protection and not a defective disk. thank you Fritz and Gurm for responding

Now wait, if, as Gurm says, it’s not recent enough to have ARccOS, then you DO have a defective disc. (I’m not familiar with that movie). Nevertheless, many people have said that DVDFabDecrypter can eventually bull its way through when others have failed. Or try SmartRipper. Also AnyDVD or the latest DVD43 in conjunction with something like ISObuster. Worth a try.

Does it play straight through on your standalone without problem? If it was recently purchased, I’d return it and try another. Good luck.
