Moserbaer Liteon?

I live in India. I needed a new dvd writer and when I asked for a LITEON the guy handed me a box labelled “MOSERBAER-LITEON”?? Does anyone know about this? Another of my friend now tells me he had a similar experience and the drive was ‘DH-20A1P’! and labelled same as above: MOSERBAER-LITEON.

moserbaer liteon are OEM Drives. if you want to purchase then they comes in two versions as per my knowledge. ide interface drives are DH-20A4P and SATA interface drives are 20A3S.

If someone is giving you dh 20A1P then it must older and since last few month they are out of the market and if someone offering you this model then it must be from old stock.

as far as writing quality and performance is concerned, you can check dedicated thread for respective models.

Thanks, Hiren! Is there a dedicated thread here in CdFreaks?

I finally bought a drive: MOSER BAER DH-20A4P
I burnt a disc using Alcohol 120%, I wrongly specified it to burn on 8x when the disc only supported 4x…i hope it won’t harm the burner!

Don’t worry, it won’t burn faster than it is capable of.

It can burn faster than the media is rated, though. I guess, your disc was burned at 6x (average burn speed 5.3x).

Thanks man! I was a little worried there.
One thing I can’t work out properly that official Liteon firmware won’t recognise my drive (MoserBaer…model specified earlier)! Maybe MBI is planning to launch their own support…anybody has any clue about this??

#7

Another thing I want to ask is that the Lead In time is taking longer than what my GSA-H20N used to take, so its a little while since the progress bar shows "1%’ or so on.
Should I be concerned?

#8

Sorry… i didn’t mention the details last post: I use Nero 6…

It takes about 36 seconds to go from 1% to 2% (this is the time when the buffer graph in nero is empty) and then it burns ok. Its just that my LG burner used to take a lot less time to lead-in. Is it normal this delay?

You can try to crossflash it to LiteOn DH-20A4P with
EEPROM Utility for LiteOn/Sony/BenQ CD/DVD-Writers

Once you have changed your drives model you will be able to use official firmware in your drive without any crossflash patching.

Is there a tutorial of the crossflashing procedure of my drive: MOSER BAER DH-20A4P ?

Can somebody write/ provide a short DUMMY GUIDE (i’m a newbie in this thing!) I have the EEPROM utility mentioned by Dethroner.
