Media: Verbatim DVD-R Made in India
MID: MBI 01RG40
Recorder: Pioneer BDR-209EBK
Recording speed: 8x
Recorded: Sep 2017
Scanned: Sep 2017

Genuine Verbatim media bought from reputable seller that imports the whole verbatim product offering for the EU market.
I’ve seen made in India Verbatim in the past but all of them had Verbatim MID.

This is the cheapest Verbatim 25 pcs. spindle I’ve ever bought and there is a reason…

I tried burning this media with my good old NEC ND2510A with FW 2.19 from 2006, the MID code is on the list of supported media but the drive doesn’t recognize it. I’m guessing this is some revision of the original 01RG40.

Media: Verbatim DVD-R Made in India
MID: MBI 01RG40
Recorder: Pioneer DVR-111 (cross flashed Asus drive)
Recording speed: 4x
Recorded: Apr 2017
Scanned: Sep 2017

Scanning interrupted - dye is changing color in form of dots past the 3.5 GB mark. This is just 5 months old burn!

Update: All the disc burned in the period Apr - May 2017, regardless of the recorder, are showing blemishes in the dye at random locations.

That´s actual MBI-“quality” :\

I dunno whether DVD-R have a revision-code, DVDIdentifier never showed me this on -R, only on +R

I know this MID since long years and saw the actual media is not comparable with my ´first media with this code, so maybe older drives have other writing strategy.

Is this a value version of Verbatim?

Try also a scan with 8x, some media simply don´t like to be read at max. speed

#158

It is regular Verbatim AZO labeled - correction: it is not spindle package it is shrink wrap package.

Nero DiscSpeed didn’t report write speed for this media when I was trying it in the ND2510 - when I tried to burn it the drive ejected the media.

#159

Same media scanned on Pioneer BDR-209EBK:

Enormous rate and high value of PIE errors reported by the drive - for RITEKF1 and original MCC media it never reaches value higher than 10. Total number of reported PIF is also high.

I’m not really worried about the scan results, I’m worried that I can see that dye is changing colors after 5 months.
