No its MBIPG101 R03, from same spindle as the previous scan. About the drive, its an unbranded Lite-on drive for laptops that came with my new acer laptop.

#62

Labeled as TDK DVD+R 8x. Burned with my SOHW-1693S KS0A (omnipatched with applied recommended media tweaks) at 8x.
Looking awesome so far…for that price? Oh man.
This PIF spike doesn’t look good…PI rocks all the chart, though.

Burned 2 months ago

Labeled as TDK DVD+R 8x. Burned by my SOHW-1693S, with stock KS04.
Seems alright for a 2-month burn.

#64

Burnt w/ LG GSA-4163B FW A105 @ 4x

Scan looks great, but just as many others here I got a strange PIF spike after the 4.2 GB mark.

Thanks for the rescans, Ninbang. In fact, I started using compressed air to remove dust specs b/c you said you had done it.

As for the ends of the discs showing degradation, I think I have read that sometimes it can happen, if the discs aren’t manufactured uniformly all the way across, although I don’t believe that any particular brand was mentioned with that problem (except maybe Princo). I’m not a manufacturing nor scientific guru on this, but I know what others have posted in terms of scans. I have noticed in my own experiences that RitekG05s that burn well burn almost identically to their TE results on a FE/TE test done under Plextools Pro or QSuite 2.0. What might be an interesting thing to do is to run that test, save the results as a .png, then post a burn scan and see if the TE simulated results match the resulting burn. I found in the 3 cases (that’s not a lot of proof, I know) I did it that my Ritek burns followed the TE results almost spot-on.

By the way, Ninbang, a new fw should not affect scanning results, as that is essentially part of the burner’s hardware improvements for burning; as the scanning is controlled primarily by the software, I would think only a software change would affect the scanning results. However, if you keep scanning those MBIPG101R04s and find you get the same increase in PIFs at the end, that would indicate the media, not the burner. The few times I’ve paid close attention to CD-Speeds modifications, I noticed only small differences in scan results, like within +/- 10 on either the PIE/PIF sides, so I think we can safely rule out an error increase due to a “scanning change” of some sort.

Anyone else reading this thread, as this mid seems readily available in the US and Europe, with at least significant numbers of people burning it, it seems like it would be a real service to others to post your original scan and then rescan in 2-3 mos. With CDSpeed at 8x on a BenQ, that’s under 10 minutes, and you can do the quality scan and do other things at your computer without affecting the scan. So, please post these as a service to other and future CDFreaks. If you don’t have the original scan, at least post this from the original scan: PIE avg., max, total; PIF avg., max, total; and Jitter avg., max, total (the Jitter wouldn’t be available except on BenQs). I usually take a Sharpie and record that onto the writable side of my CD/DVD, in addition to saving the scan. So, if you could at least post the original numbers, then post the new scan, this would help people in places where getting Verbatim or TY is difficult if not impossible. If this stuff burns great and has great longevity, let’s have plenty proof here; if it burns great but degrades terribly in a few months, let there be scans to prove it degrades.

I know I’m not a moderator or anyone important at CDFreaks, but I suggest this be done as a favor to others. Besides, isn’t that what we Freaks are here for–to inform others on what’s good and not so good?  :iagree:

Well. I have to admit that this time Moser Baer definetely failed.
However, it was burned @6x with SOHW-1693S KS0A.
Labeled as TDK DVD+R 8X.
If you look at my earlier burns, they were all @8x and hella better.

The content is DVD-Video movie. Book type is DVD-ROM. Unfortunately, I haven’t got a standalone DVD player, so I can’t say anything about playing this disc.

I found two disc that I burned. The first one was burned 3-11-05, the second was burned 2-27-05. Both were burned at 12x WOPC off. Idon’t have the scans but did write the info on the discs. the discs wer rescaned on the same unit with same firmware that burnt them.
1st was PIE total 5594, PIF total 384 QS 97.
2nd was PIe total 1108 and PIF total 338 QS 96.
These were Memorex brand.

I rescanned Imation DVD+R 8X media, and I can’t comply for this time…

1rst scan:30 August 2005.
2nd scab: 24 January 2006.

zivija, that is wonderful to see a MBIPG101 R04 with exactly the same PIF total and jitter after 1 year. Thank you for rescanning your MBIPG101 R04 media, and as you have time, please post more rescans, as many people here wonder if the Moser Baer India is a stable and reliable media. That I know of, usually it burns well with great results for most people, but I do not know of anyone that has tried to really show if it degrades or not. Thanks again and keep those rescans coming.

#79

Liteon 1633s
Imation force field (scrach resistant) 10 pack all ten scaned like this one.

#80

Superb, low PIF Wrenchman! ~100 PIF total is an excellent result. Was this burned in your Liteon 1633s?

Here’s a FE/TE test on my BenQ 1640, @ 12x. I have never seen the Tracking Error so low, even with my rebadged TY from Fuji and Sony. Plus, this passed the test. This is the Staples 8x DVD+R 25 pk, with the lifetime warranty and “Made in India” on the side. All the dye sides looked bright and pristine.

I will attach scans or links once I start testing them. :iagree:
