It seems that Pioneer is not optimized for MBI BD-R media.

Yep, MBIR06 is not Pioneers favorite.

Especially if compared with my Panasonic UJ27x or LG BU40N. But actual LG Half Heights like the BH16NS55 burn MBIR06 extreme bad.

Still waiting for the LG WH/BH16NS60, it was announced at the time of BU40N, maybe LG could go back to the time of the good BH16NS40?

The media have visible dots in the inner area. Quality control by MBI?

The 8x-scan looks not so good, but the result is still far better than with BH16NS55 and WH16NS58. It´s also the 1st disc of the cakebox

I don´t dare to write it 6x, 4x isn´t available

Mediarange BD-R 4x, PHILIP-R04-000,
LG BH16NS55@WH16NS58 1.V1 @4x

Plextor PX-LB950SA fails at optimal power callibration, the LG BH16NS55@WH16NS58 manages to burn discs both @4x and @2x speeds, but can’t read any of them. PX-LB950SA can “read” the discs burned @4x, but they all show a scan like that (drive switching to 1x read speed, I interrupted the scan not to waste laser lifetime):

Pleomax BD-R 4x, PHILIP-R04-000
Plextor PX-LB950SA 1.04 @4x

This must be a terrible batch. As I have written before all of my burners struggle with these discs, independently if it’s top or bottom of the cake. Maybe it hasn’t been stored properly. Plextor PX-LB950SA 1.04 fails at OPC, Optiarc BD-5750L 1.50 detects blank discs as “incompatible media”, surprisingly the TSST SE-506BB started burning, but I don’t expect miracles

EDIT: the SE-506BB burned disc is not readable in any of my drives

I have also some MBI-made media with quality problems (dots, only visible after burning)

But your Mediarange reminds me more of the awful media with OTCBDR001-MID.

I had also problematic PHILIPR04, but only if I burn more than 20GB

Your Pleomax looks good for this MID.
