Help, need to make a "sacrificial" backup of disk #1 (run media) for Mohaa so son won't scratch or break original cd.

Used CloneCD 4.0.1.3 and Acer 24x10x40 (24x10P.MJ) r/w'r as target, Aopen 52x (52x/AKH A62) as source Splash screens show, but game won't load from copy. Have upgraded to 1.9. Will this help or am I missing a setting somewhere.

Total newb at CD R/W:bow: thx for the help.

If you want to take advantage of Amplify Weak Sectors (AWS) and you live in the United States all you have to do is set your Regional Options to English (Canada) under your control panel.

Burner Recommended: Lite-On LTR-24102B

NOTE: The type of Media you use to make your backup does play an important role in a successful backup. If this doesn¡¦t work always try a few other types of media before you give up. Different versions of the same brand of media also make a difference!

Recent Successful backups tested by full installations and then playing them!

Your writer doesn’t support correct efm encoding and so can’t make working back-ups of the latest safedisc 2 protected games without assistance. Update to clonecd 4.0.1.9 and try using the standard game cd profiles with AWS enabled. That may work but also may not. Good luck.

Tried the options, -no joy- never did find the AWS inable. Did set the regional settings to Canadian - still couldn’t find it. I have just dl the AWS patch and will try one more coaster. You’re prolly right about the Acer R/w’r. Do the Aopen r/w have the same issue?

Couple of things:

  • It would be helpful if you could upgrade to the latest Clone 4.0.1.9.

  • As philamber mentioned the Acer writer can not quite backup the Safe Disk 2 Protected titles with out some extra help (AWS) Amplified Weak Sectors. Even then your success would be travial.

Now as for you not being able to see the AWS option, it could be diffficult at the first glance as it is not immediatley apparent, this is how you can see this option.

Once you have finished your reading whether it is on the fly or from a CCD Image, you should be able to see some orange Icons which are referred to as profiles.

If you right click on that lets say default Game Profile and then select edit, you should now see only one section which is referred to as the write settings.

The top box is should be the settings that allows you to enable or disable the (AWS).

You mentioned that you used the Canadian Regional settings to install CCD. If that is the case then you should not have any problem seeing it.

If this section with the AWS does not appear or is grayed out, Uninstall Clone completley, Reboot, Make sure your regional settings is still canadian and the proceed to install Clone again.

Hopefully this time you would be installing the latest version 4.0.1.9.

Give that a try and see if it works for you.

BTW, if you look at the very start of this forum there is a sticky post that has some pre-made profiles that can help you with taking the guess out of the proper settings when you use clone.

Have a look at that section and read the installation instruction carefully and you should be well in your way.
