I have been using DVDFab to do DVD to Mobile for conversion for other devices, but I seem to be unable to play these h.264 files that are in an mkv container on my laptop.
Any reccomendations on a good mkv player?
Try playing with VLC, MediaPlayerClassic HE, or SMPlayer…
I was just looking at VLC, but noticed some complained it had issues.
I also found zoomplayer and BSplayer. There seem to be a lot of mkv players. All I realy need it to do is be able to play mkv, since this is what I mostly use DVD fab for. Is one of these player more stable and reliable than the others?
VLC has no issues on my machine. It is stable and a great tool, and will never whine about needing codecs. It is what Fengtao and Ting use for testing.
Good enough for me then, thanks signals.
I assume there is away to make VLC only play my mkv files and not other files right?
I hate installing players, becuase they tend to reset the defaults of various files.
I also have no issues playing MKV with VLC…Yes you can associate VLC to play MKVs…
I gave VLC the defaults for everything MPEG-4 and for “naked” VOBs. I prefer WinDVD and PowerDVD for playing DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS folders just because of the player-like GUI and some of the other features.
