Mitsui media question

As far as I've read, Mitsui media (CD-Rs) are supposed to be qualitatively very good. Does this mean Mitsui is unconditionally recommendable regardless of color, speed, etc., as far as quality goes?

In terms of quality, Mitsuis are incredible, been using the Mistui Silvers for ages and honestly, I’ve at most had handful of coasters (used over 500 CD-Rs). Now interms of speed, well I only had upto a 12x Plextor till this past week, so speed wasn’t an issue at the time. However, last night, after installing the Lite-On 40125W and using Smart-Burn on one of my 24x certified Mitsui Silvers, Smart-Burn reported max speed was 16x! This baffled me actually, not something I expected. I threw in one of my Maxell 24x to see if it was my drive, but Smart-Burn reported 40x capable for the Maxell. I really don’t understand how the Mitsui isn’t even able to run at the certified speed… kinda dissapoints me as I’ve been using them for so many years now.

Mitsui and Taiyo Yuden make some of the best discs on the market. Mitsui generally is reommended over TY due to the dye they use. It’s a bit more resilient to externalities.
