The 411 drive currently allows only 1x burning on this disc.
Scanning at 4x fails at 1%
Scanned at 2x ECC sum-8
The spike of errors at around 60-70% is likely due to some crud on the disc that would not wash off.

Writer: Pioneer DVR-XU01
Firmware: 1.00
Media: MAM-E DVD-R 8x Printable
MID: (MAM8XG01)
Burn Speed: 2x (only possible speed)
Software: Nero 12 Ess.
Burned 2018
Scanned 2018

Only 2x with 8x-media, so I guess it´s a standard-strategy.

1st disc of the cakebox

Overall OK, maybe the Pio could do a bit better.

Writer: LG GH24NSC0
Firmware: LK00
Media: MAM-E DVD-R 8x Printable
MID: (MAM8XG01)
Burn Speed: 8x chosen, 6x burned
Software: Nero 12 Ess.
Burned 2018
Scanned 2018

I was surprised to see also 6x as possible burn-speed, but choosed 8x. The LG never reached this speed and stayed at 6x.

But good result, only the Benq with advanced scan don´t like the higher PI

#9

Bought on ebay or locally?

#10

Ebay Germany

Never saw any Mitsui on local stores, and I guess this 8x-media is more than 10 years old

#11

Nice buy!

#12

Hope so ^^

I´m curious how my other drives work with it. Most 8x-media should be known by newer writers, but the Slimtype-Pioneer know it not. And that´s strange, Pioneers DVD-writer have a lot of MIDs in the FW

Writer: LiteOn iHAS 124 F
Firmware: CL9J
Media: MAM-E DVD-R 8x Printable
MID: (MAM8XG01)
Burn Speed: 8x chosen, 6x burned
Software: Nero 12 Ess.
Burned 2018
Scanned 2018

The LiteOn show same possible write speeds as the LG, but also never reached 8x and stayed at 6x.

The LiteOn have a bit less PIF max and PIF total, but higher PIE. So the LG win this round.

#14

BTW, the PIF-spike is at a similar/same point with both writers

#15

Pioneer DVR-S21 burn an unrecognizable disc with this media

The first of my writers which stayed at 8x

Result is good

Ugly spikes, the Benqw see POF but can read it without problems (slow down at the end because of slow IDE-USB2.0-adapter)

Should be a generic write-strategy, but result is good
