Does anybody have more recent hi-speed rated versions of Mitsui's Gold CD-R dics? How well does it burn?
I'm looking for a safe alternative to my archival disc of choice (Emtec Ceram Guard made by TY), which has become hard to get now that the Emtec storage division has been sold to Imation.
Therefor I'm interested in tests and availability information about MAM-A's new gold based Phthalocyanine discs that are rated for more than 24x burn speed.
Do these burn well with Plextor (premium) and/or LiteOn 6S series?
My interim choice has been Verbatim Crystal SuperAzo, but even this has become hard to get (where I live, in EU).
My requirements for a decent candidate for an archival media include:
1) stability over a long period of time (estimated, acceleration tested or based on 'best of available data')
2) good burn quality at rated speeds AND lower speeds
3) superior scratch resistance (just in case it drops or is accidentally scratched on the label side when handled)
Emtec Ceram Guard and Verbatim Crystal SuperAzo seem to be ok under these requirements.
PS Due to personal bad experience with Kodak (both original Gold Ultima and later Ultima) I don't trust them anymore (label side peeled off by itself).
