The last burn at 12x looks not much worse than the one at 8x. Maybe I should also try other speeds such as 6x and 10x? Still, I was expecting better results, especially as I have lots of these media.

It´s much better than with actual MCC-media

I think 16x-media is not made for slow speeds, I mostly use 12x, 14x or 16x

What do you mean “It´s much better than with actual MCC-media”? I can try 14x and 16x, but from previous experience I don’t expect results to be any better.

#754

Newer MCC-media have much more PIF than older, start here

You saw that 4x is more worse than your 8x and 12x? I don´t think faster than 12x would be better, but it could be better than very slow burns.

I guess no writer-manufacturer optimize 4x-burns for 16x-media; and I wrote it someday, Samsung offers speed in 2x-steps, don´t believe they optimize for 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x and so on for every 16x-media :disagree:

It seems that 16x is too high for this media.

That´s not good for 2011 CMC-media :\

But the many GSA-drives weren´t good, even actual very cheap made GH24NSD1 have much better writing-quality with many media

I am still looking how to write these media and so far I don’t like the results.

I could get a GH24NSD1 but is it any better than SH-224xx drives? And is testing at maximum speed more reliable than at 8x?

#762

I´ve burned not many media with the GH24NSD1, but it should be similar to the 24NSB0/C0.

I don´t have a 224BB, but newer Samsungs like DB and GB are similar to the LG. My RITEKF1 and RITEKG05 works better in the LG, MBI 01RG40 better in Samsung.

With MCC-media theres not much difference, an annoyance with LG are the limited write speeds for 16x-media. Only 8x and 16x, no 12x.

Both are very good DL-writers.

So I say it makes only sense to buy an LG if you want a new writer. The LG is here very cheap, ca. 11€ without shipping.

I scan full speed because I say a good burned media should look good with 16x scanning speed. But most ppl here scan 8x because they began with older writers which had general problems with high scan/read-speeds, I´ve noticed this with my older Liteons, even with the x24 B. My 124 F works better at highest speed, but older DVDs like 1x-4x-media from PRINCO, Optodisc,Interaxia and some of my TY-fakes can´t be read at max. speed, the 124 mostly refuses to scan those media faster than 8x. If I try to scan above 8x it only scan 6x-CAV

So I would say stay 8x with your Lite, because it don´t like highest speed and the other ppl with B/C-series also use 8x

#763

If I needed to test these media at maximum speed I would have to throw them away.

#764

This is bad, never had so bad MCC-media.

As you can see, all scanned at max. Speed with my 124 F

#765

I think the problem is partly with the ihas122 c. For some reason this drive reports higher errors. And it’s not a faulty drive as I have two more of these and they all behave the same or worse. An ihas124 b reports less errors.

#766

Is the 122 your most used drive?

I saw that my often used drives began to had read problems after some times.

At least a 122 C and 124 B should be scan similar.

A scan with the 124 B at max. speed which looks that good is really good. And this result I expect from older MCC-media. Like I said, this result is almost impossible with actual MCC-media

#767

I only use the iHAS122 C and 124 B for scanning. They are of about the same age. They certainly do not scan in a similar way. Lots of errors with the 122 C at both 8x and maximum speeds. I also have a brand new PX-891SA (122 C clone). Results of the same media are about the same. So it’s not a drive going bad problem. Also the 122 C has a problem reading some media (speed drops at the end of the disc) when the same media read fine with other drives.

#768

I would say the optical unit is not on the best condition.

#769

The Plextor is brand new and was only used to write a few test discs. Do you mean it’s faulty?
