Mitsubishi Chemicals DVD+R

The x24E-series shows the same like my x24F-drives. It seems to be a problem with the LiteOn-drives, dunno why. Maybe only with the combination of CMC-made MCC 004?

I have a few more drives that I could test, but I think it’s clear that LiteOn drives do not like these media and that Samsung drives burn them with acceptable quality. I was expecting better results from the ASUS DRW-24F1MT (Samsung SH-224FB), but the TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C marginally wins.

Yep, but the difference between these two drives you can check off under the aspect of quality fluctuations (Drive and Media)

I´m not a fan of LGs actual GH24SD1 because it´s noisy and have to much vibrations like my most Samsung-drives, but the LG is still one of the best writer if I compare with the last competitors. It have good quality with MCC 004 (LiteOn fails) AND MCC 03RG20 (QSI-Pioneers and LGs Slimtype-drives fail), even at 16x; also it can burn CMC MAG D03 good (good means good for the worse quality of this media), with x24F-drives you will be lucky if the burn readable.

Only Pioneers BD-writers are competitors for the LGs, but if you only burn DVD you maybe not want to pay the 5x price for the Pioneer

Maybe it would be interesting if someone have LiteOn x24F-drive and MCC 004 from MBI

From my experience LiteOn 22x and 24x drives (B, C, D, E, F) don’t like Verbatim media. And as I mostly use these media, I can’t tell if its a specific problem with them or a more general problem with the drives. I only burn DVD, so I don’t think I will buy a Blu-ray drive and I can not find LG GH24NSD0 or GH24NSD1 to buy either.

GH24NSB0 or C0 have the same quality @writing and both drives are not so noisy like the D1.

My 524 B is much better than my x24F

Did you enable any of the LiteOn options (Smart Burn, Force Hyper Tuning, Over Speed Writing, Online Hyper Tuning) and did they make any difference?

Standard-options, only Smartburn was enabled. Sometimes I clear the OPC-history of all my LiteOns

In the past I tried also OHT and thought it would work, at least with critical media like my Monarch DVD+R 4x (VDSPMSAB 001), but next burn was awful again. 8x is to high speed for this media, but 6x could be good or bad. It seems to be it was random to have a good burn with the LiteOn. My Asus Slimtype (LG) burned more than hundred of these disks good, so it is also not the media, it´s the LiteOn.

Your MCC 004 shows with all burns higher PIE-rates at the beginning, in my burns it´s not so constant

Some burns with my LiteOns are OK at beginning but awful at the end.

This burn would be OK without the single spikes

OPC kicked also often in.

My LGs, Pioneers don´t have these problems.

So it´s also a LiteOn-problem.

But I use LiteOns at work in the most of the PCs because they much cheaper than a Pioneer BDR-drive, much more quiet and relaible than LGs actual drives.

Now I hope I can get working media for it, have to avoid MCC 004 and CMC MAG D03. I still have some of these media but I have also some LGs and some Samsung to burn these media

Oh, your first QSI-based writer?

No, I also have a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-220.
