Problem: My DW-D56A has been flashed as, and now thinks it is a DW-Q58A. I can not get it to work, and can not get utilities to flash it back to a DW-D56A.
Helping my employer. Their niece's Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop had nasty viruses.
Reformatted and reinstalled operating system from CD.
Downloaded and installed dozens of drivers from the Inspiron 6000 page from Dell.com.
Played a music CD: Worked fine.
Tried to burn a simple test .doc onto a CD-R: Failed to Burn.
Drive Has not worked since. Will not read/play. Just makes sounds of attempting to read/play.
Tried re-installing, then updating drivers. Nothing helped.
Came across this website/forums and researched. Found drivers. Downloaded and updated driver (flashed it, don't remember how).
Realized I had chosen the wrong driver model. Tried to rollback, or simply install the correct driver "Update Driver" in the "Hardware Update Wizard" but the software will not let me...it is "protecting" me from installing a driver that does not match my model number (it didn't stop me the first time <smile>).
Question: Where do I go from here? use mtkflash? LtnFW? Other?
Once the correct utility is identified, How do I proceed? What is the correct procedure?
What information am I vague on or not providing clearly that will assist you in helping me?
