In an effort to help boost sales this holiday shopping season, Microsoft announced price cuts on its entire line of Zune MP3 players.

The 4GB Zune will drop to $99 (from $129), the 8GB model will drop $10 to $139, and the 16GB will drop $20 to $179.

If you’re anti-Apple, or just want to buy something other than an iPod, then this could be the news you’ve been waiting for.

When is Microsoft releasing their Zune-phone?

I’ve asked Microsoft multiple times about the Zune phone, but they aren’t saying anything about it. :stuck_out_tongue: :o

Doh!

Not anti-Apple by any means, but I want to upgrade from my almost-full 80gb iPod to 120gb or higher. However, the online feedback from my several days of research says that the Generation 6 iPods have really inferior audio quality due to a switch in DAC suppliers. And the feedback I’ve seen on the Zune (120gb) reports that the sound is excellent. So unless I read otherwise, it’s the Zune for me…despite a slightly lower battery life on wi-fi and video (which is not a big deal, as I’m a music freak).

Too bad the price cuts don’t effect the 120!
