I just posted the article 'Microsoft switches to Blu-ray for Xbox360'.
One of the reasons many people thought HD DVD would make a big chance to become the next blue laser format was the support of Microsoft. The company released a relative cheap external HD DVD drive as...

that was quick :B
Yeah, what a quick about-face. I hope Microsoft does hamper PS3 sales. Die, $ony, Die !!!
Or will it bring Xbox360 sales figures in danger because nobody trusts Microsoft anymore to back the winning technology? :B I would not be happy if I had bought a HD DVD drive for my Xbox360.
Wonder if HD-DVD will be dumped on Xbox 360 now ? Will all current titles be re-released on blu-ray ?
Oh yes DIE SONY I want Microshaft’s DRM! It goes deeper into the computer than your rootkit ever could. I actually like DRM, as long as it’s not Sony! I like restricted products, as long as it doesn’t say Sony! (End sarcasm)
Legally speaking, does sony have to grant licensing to 360? At least in the immediate future (until PS3 secures their position)?
Since they lost the HD-DVD war along with Toshiba they don’t have a choice. I could see a M$ rootkit on Blu-Ray movies that would install Vista so the PS3 so it would be as slow as the Xbox 360.

fuck you dickhead,ye can,t get much deeper than a root kit. SONY are fucking nazi,s im never buying sony or bluray…and i dont need to, its already outdated, its called DOWNLOWDING and it the next big thing oh by the way DIE sony DIE
Stay in school tony and just say NO to drugs…
Your mom’s calling tony…Time to run home for dinner (and detox) :r
Microsoft should enable adding your own usb BD player and download to external usb hdd.
I cant wait to get a Blu ROM and “slysoft” a few movies to the harddrive. I hope it will be around $100.
"…can,t get much deeper than a root kit… Yes you can, just put DRM in the microchips. http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hidden+cost+vista+drm&btnG=Google+Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=trusted+computing+drm&btnG=Search They’d like you to beLIEve it’s for your security. Ways to permanently remove the Sony rootkit: 1. Tool from Microsoft will remove it 2. Tool from Mark Russinovich will remove it 3. Various antivirus/antimalware programs will remove it. 4. Format and reinstall To avoid it: 1. Hold the shift key when inserting the CD 2. Disable autorun 3. Cover the data track with a sharpie or a scratch. 4. Most importantly BOYCOTT THE ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY (Music AND movies) 5. “Piracy”, “theft” “stealing” whatever you want to call filesharing and downloading I call it REVENGE! None of those will kill DRM in chips. You could probably download software to get around the DRM, but the circuits are still there. The DRM circuits will always be there waiting to be re-enabled with the next Windows update. Microsoft has re-enabled DRM in Windows Media before: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,126955/article.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+media+update+drm&btnG=Search As far as downloading is concerned You’re joking right? Right now the quality is :r :r :r :r :r :r . Not anywhere NEAR high def. Oh sure eventually maybe 5-10 years from now downloading will be high def, but it WILL have so much DRM the rootkit will look like Barney the Dinosaur’s happy playtime camp. But hey, as long as it’s not Sony DRM it’s OK right? When that gets cracked they’ll just update the DRM again: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,126955/article.html http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=windows+media+update+drm&btnG=Search
atfoulmouth: As far as downloading is concerned You’re joking right? Right now the quality is :r :r :r :r :r :r . Not anywhere NEAR high def. ----------------------------- That is because current broadband isn’t fast enough, especially in the USA. Billions of $ in tax breaks given to promote deployment has only resulted in low speeds and high costs. The providers now block BitTorrent and competing services like VOIP and aren’t interested in network neutrality.
downloadings a joke right ,er … ? check out all the hi def torrents out there .here in europe the speeds are abit faster than in the usa… quality, its blu/hd dvd rips full hd ,the films aren,t 25 gig you retards there usualy around 5/6 gigs thought you guys were abit teck savvie. wel you live and learn anyway lots of fun with the shiney sony discs and remember to put some grease on your ass cause your going to need it
those 360 versions of the blu-ray better not go for more than $150. You can buy stand alone readers for less than that.
Sony doesn’t pull the strings for Blu-Ray - there’s a Blu-Ray forum, as there is (was?) an HD DVD forum. I’m sure the Blu-Ray forum would welcome and company willing to join the forum and add their technology and financial backing (I think MS has “some” financial resources - ha, ha). Who cares is there are cheap stand-alone blu-ray players - if it isn’t 2.0 profile! If/when MS does release a Blu-Ray external drive, it will be a 2.0 spec drive. $199.99 (or less) for a 360 Blu-Ray external drive? I am so there!!! :B
