Microsoft’s Edge browser will soon feature a built-in adblocker. The information comes from a session titled “Microsoft Edge: What’s Next for Microsoft’s New Browser and Web Platform” that was held during Microsoft’s BUILD conference and spotted by Ed Bott from ZDNet.

This hits both ways.
In one aspect, built in ad-blocking is seemingly nice, but there are obvious advantages for plugins as it will not be as obvious to advertisers how to circumvent the ad-blocker. With a built in ad-blocker in use, they can concentrate on only that and so make it less effective.

Seems to be jumping the gun by everybody reporting this, Microsoft have stated “We are not building a native ad blocker within MS Edge, but we will support third party ad blockers like AdBlock and AdBlock Plus”

Funny I already block ads. I have my hosts edit that does it without the need of MS approve to blocks ads. That’s what most don’t get MS could switch it off and you wouldn’t know it.
